Finally wore out the salt block we have had for several years. The one purchased seems thicker and a lot heavier. The rack is sturdy. We will use this often for grilling meats, seafood, and vegetables in our ceramic grill.
So glad this block came with a substantial stainless steel holder because it's very heavy and would be extremely hard to move when hot if not for the holder/stand. It's fun to use and meats and salmon turned out great on the grill. It's a commitment, however, as it must be heated slowly to avoid cracking and then allowed to cool thoroughly before it can be cleaned. I allow 40-60 minutes for heating and then let it cool for several hours or overnight before cleaning it. Unless I drop it, it should last several years.
